Reservable Study Rooms
Boston University students, faculty, and staff may reserve spaces for a total of 2 hours in each 24-hour period. Study spaces are available for reservation at Mugar Memorial Library, Pardee Management Library, Pickering Educational Resources Library, and the Science & Engineering Library (SEL).
Doctoral candidates who are in the process of writing their dissertations may request a study carrel for the duration of the academic year.
Open Study Spaces
BU Libraries open study spaces offer three zones of noise levels to accommodate different needs:
Collaborative
This zone is intended for group study. Talking is expected, but groups and individuals should be respectful of other patrons.
Considerate
This zone offers a ‘coffee-shop’ level of volume. Quiet talking is acceptable, but patrons should be mindful of those around them.
Silent
This zone offers quiet study spaces. The expectation is total, uninterrupted silence.
Mugar Memorial Library
As BU’s main humanities and social sciences library, Mugar Memorial Library provides resources for study, teaching, and research. Mugar also supports Libraries Administration and various Libraries departments and services, including four additional branches: the African Studies Library, the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center, the Music Library, and the Krasker Film/Video collection.

Pardee Management Library
Pardee Management Library provides an extensive collection of online and print resources in business and management-related subjects.
Considerate Zone

Pickering Educational Resources Library
Pickering Educational Resources Library holds books on educational practices at all levels, books for children and young adults, and pre-K-12 educational kits.

Science & Engineering Library (SEL)
The Science & Engineering Library is the primary library resource for study, teaching, and research in the sciences and engineering on Boston University’s Charles River Campus.

Stone Science Library
The Stone Science Library brings together books, journals, atlases, maps, photographs, and more in support of the Archaeology and Earth & Environment departments, as well as the Center for Remote Sensing.

The Michael D. Papagiannis Astronomy Library supports BU’s astronomy and astrophysics programs as well as research conducted by faculty and staff.
